Who Is Affected by Arthritis?

Is arthritis mostly found in older people or does it affect everyone?  Arthritis sufferers include children and adults as well as men and women.

There are approximately 350 million people worldwide with arthritis. Nearly 40 million persons in the United States are affected by arthritis.  Of these over a quarter million arthritis sufferers are children!  Approximately 2.1 million Americans suffer from rheumatoid arthritis.

Almost 60% of the Americans with arthritis are women. More than half of those with arthritis in America are under 65 years of age.

Thus arthritis affects both men and women as well as children, adults, and senior citizens.
